Resources for Commuters

You can do it!

We believe that anyone can get around by bike. Each year, the number of people who choose bicycling for transportation is steadily increasing. For example, commuting by bicycling increased in Seattle by 22% between 2009 and 2010. And we know that many more WANT to get around by bike – as much as 60% of the population. Below are some resources and information to help you embark.

Is Your Workplace Bike-Friendly?

A recent study showed that employees with basic access to showers, lockers and bike parking were 5 times more likely to commute by bicycle. Many businesses go the extra mile to support bicycling further with incentives, education, and more. Ask what your company offers and encourage them to check out BizCycle, Cascade’s bike-friendly business program.

Challenge Yourself

Every year, Bike Month inspires thousands of people to become brand new bike commuters. Many first-timers enjoy the camaraderie and support of dozens of commuter stations and over 20,000 fellow riders on F5 Bike to Work Day. Looking for a longer-term commitment? Join or start a workplace team for the Commute Challenge. Cascade offers free classes throughout the month of May and many employers offer special support and incentives.
